The oroantral communication (OAC) is an open communication between the oral cavity and the maxillary sinus. One of the main complications of OAC is the development of maxillary sinusitis. In this regard, it is important for a practicing dentist-surgeon to take into account risk factors and know the symptoms of OAC, and, if it is detected, be able to carry out a set of measures to eliminate it as soon as possible. There are a large number of techniques for closing the OAC. Some of them were developed in the first half of the XX century and, along with modern methods, do not lose their relevance. Nevertheless, there is no consensus among the authors as to which method of eliminating the OAC is the most effective and safe. This article is a review of sources of domestic and foreign literature in order to analyze current methods of eliminating OAC and assess their advantages and disadvantages.
