In pediatric practice, adenoids and adenoiditis appear as the most common cause of difficulty in nasal breathing, ranging from 20% to 50% of requests for medical care, and in the group of frequently ill children — from 37% to 70%.

THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

Was to assess the morphofunctional state of the structures of the adaptive immune response of the pharyngeal tonsil based on the age-related dynamics of secondary follicles in adenoids under immunotropic therapy.

PATIENTS AND METHODS

Adenoids removed in 120 children aged 22 months to 16 years were studied histologically with selective use of immunohistochemistry methods.

THE RESULT OF THE STUDY

The use of immunomodulators creates an additional antigenic load, which is reflected in the hyperplasia of the secondary follicles and contributes to an increase in the volume of adenoid vegetation and adversely affects the function of nasal breathing.
