THE PURPOSE

To study the anatomical and topographic relationships of the structures of the nose and lacrimal apparatus.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

A study of the nose area adjacent to the lacrimal structures was performed on 30 cadavers. We studied the ratio of the anatomical structures associated with the lacrimal ducts, their sizes, the type of nasolacrimal duct termination and the canal of the same name, their direction and deviation from the vertical axis, and the structural variants of the lacrimal tract.

RESULTS

Data were obtained on the anatomical and topographic relationship of the lacrimal and nasal structures, which is of importance in surgical practice.

CONCLUSIONS

The revealed patterns of the anatomical structure of the nose and tear ducts demonstrate the limited surgical site in the surgical treatment of dacryostenoses, the causes of excessive scarring, which is often the cause of relapse of the disease. This knowledge dictates the need to develop ways to reduce intraoperative trauma by performing simultaneous operations, delimiting adjacent sections of the mucous membrane.
