OBJECTIVE
Is to assess the dynamics of subjective perception of satisfaction with palliative care during the implementation of a set of measures to improve it.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
The material for the analysis was the results of a sociological survey of patients who use palliative medical care (PMC) and their relatives/legal representatives — persons providing PMC in 2021—2024. The study carried out the calculation of both individual and complex indicators characterizing the quality of PMC for the subsequent analysis of their dynamics.
RESULTS
As a result of the survey, during a personal interview of the study participants at their place of residence or in medical organizations, an increase in most of the individual and, consequently, complex indicators of satisfaction with PMC was revealed. The most significant increase in positive responses to various aspects of primary care compared to 2021 was observed in the following indicators: satisfaction with social and spiritual aspects — by 46.7%, speed of delivery — by 31.7%, the ability of patients to provide such care themselves — by 28.6%, timeliness of palliative care and its accessibility — by 23.3%. Statistical analysis did not reveal significant differences between the estimates of PMC indicators by both the patients themselves and their relatives. All the survey participants rate the quality of palliative care equally highly, including the patient’s themselves involvement in such care providing.
CONCLUSION
The growth of the main indicators of PMC characterizing its quality in the period 2021—2024 indicates an increase in satisfaction with such assistance from all of the study participants. The continuation of the study will make it possible to monitor changes in the provision of palliative care over time, to identify the potentials that determine the quality of palliative care necessary to improve it.
