Aim of this study — to establish the dynamics of attitudes towards the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, awareness, and attitude to one’s health for 32 years (1984—2016) in an open population among men 25—44 years old in Russia / Siberia (Novosibirsk) Material and methods. As part of the WHO MONICA-psychosocial program, random representative samples of the male population of 25—64 years of age in Novosibirsk were examined: 753 men in 1984—1985; 739 — in 1988—1989; 657 — in 1994—1995; 427 — in 2013—2016. The survey used the scale «Knowledge and attitude to their health». Results. During the observation period from 1984 to 2016, the number of men aged 25—44 years who believed that they were «healthy» or «in good health» increased. At the same time, the number of those who believe that they do not care enough about their health has increased. Most men were of the opinion that a healthy person can get a serious illness in the next 5—10 years. The number of people who believe that preventive measures will help to avoid some serious diseases has increased. Men more often began to stop working if they didn’t feel very well, the number of those who reduce their jobs and relax has increased. There was a positive trend in relation to the preventive health check. The number of men who began to observe proper nutrition increased, the number of smokers decreased. Conclusion. The dynamics of attitudes towards the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, awareness, and attitude to one’s health over the course of 32 years indicate that health has now become a value dominant due to a new understanding of its value in the context of adaptation to modern economic requirements.
