Climatic factors have a tremendous influence on the biosphere as a whole and on man in particular, by causing characteristic changes in the performance of many human organs and systems, behavior, and mood. General practitioners most commonly face seasonal variations in blood pressure (BP). This paper is dedicated to this problem. This review analyzes the mechanisms of seasonal variations in BP and the factors influencing the magnitude of seasonal BP changes. In addition, it considers the nature of seasonal changes in clinical and different ambulatory BP values in hypertensive patients.
