The analytical review summarizes the results of studies of an association of the incidence of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections with cardiovascular outcomes; those of studies of the mechanisms of this association; data on the efficiency of vaccination as a way to prevent cardiovascular complications; the results of an analysis of the cost-effective expediency of vaccination in terms of the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. In accordance of the currently accumulated scientific and practical, mainly foreign, data, influenza vaccination has become a recommended secondary prevention strategy for cardiovascular diseases. However, the elaboration of effective vaccination programs and the economic rationale for their implementation call for national studies.
