Abstract:

Objective. To evaluate the biochemical changes in the ejaculatory sperm membrane associated with externalization of phosphatidylserine (PS), characteristic of apoptosis after exposure to male sex cells in vitro lipopolysaccharide (LPS) Chlamydia trachomatis. Material and methods. 12 male fertile spermatozoa were incubated for 6 hours, 0.1 μg/ml LPS isolated from C. trachomatis (serovar E). Externalization of PS was determined by staining the sperm with fluorochrome conjugated annexin-V (AnV-FITC) and propidium iodide (PI) followed by fluorescence microscopy. Results. A statistically significant difference between the content (AnV+/ PI–) - sperm in test samples after incubation with LPS and C. trachomatis in control - no LPS additions (р<0.001). Conclusion. The cytotoxic effects of LPS as pathogenicity factor of C. trachomatis, on human sperm in vitro induction is the externalization of PS, which is an early sign of apoptosis.
