INTRODUCTION
Planning a surgical facial rejuvenation is generally based on beauty standards which are variable and differ depending on cultural and ethnic characteristics. Alternatively, the authors prioritize the wishes of a patient, also taking into account the clinical features of the patients’ faces. The ability of a plastic surgeon to form his\her own judgment about the harmony of the patient’s face is of primary importance and is possible with a full and thorough assessment based on specialized knowledge.
OBJECTIVE
Improving the planning of surgical correction of age-related changes in the face.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
The study was conducted by reviewing existing approaches to clinical examination of the face and neck, as well as analyzing authors’ personal experience on matching particular features of the patient’s face and neck to the tactics chosen. The research method is clinical. The results of rejuvenation surgeries performed in 178 patients with follow up from 1 to 6 years (2017-2023) were retrospectively analyzed.
RESULTS
The main result of our work is sequential ranking of priorities in clinical examination of patients in the form of a list of the parameters relevant for development of surgical tactics.
CONCLUSION
This article describes the structure of preoperative examination of patients with age-related changes in the face. It is designed to help plastic surgeons to select the optimal surgical methods for the targeted elimination of problems most significant for a patient. In our opinion, the correct formulation of surgical tasks should combine the subjective ranking of particular age-related changes by a patient with an assessment of these changes, as well as the harmony of the whole face by a surgeon with special knowledge and artistic taste. This allows to determine the examination algorithm.
