Abstract:

It was evaluated the effectiveness of the combined method in the treatment of post-acne which included the use of systemic isotretinoin and a gel containing onion extract, mucopolysaccharides, niacinamide, pionin, and allantoin. The study included 35 patients with acne aged 14 to 43 years; they were divided into 2 groups depending on the severity of the disease. The 1^st group (n=20) included patients with papulopustular acne of moderate and severe degree, the 2^nd (n=15) — patients with nodular, conglobate acne. Each group was divided into 2 subgroups where patients received systemic isotretinoin as monotherapy or in combination with external gel. When assessing the results of acne treatment using the IGA (Investigators Global Assessment) scale the high efficiency of both isotretinoin monotherapy and its combination with external gel was established. At the same time, when assessing the effectiveness of treatment using the IGA scale adapted for the post-acne symptom complex, the MSS (Manchester Scar Scale) and the APSEA (Assessment of the Psychological and Social Effects of Acne) questionnaire reflecting the effect of acne on the psycho-emotional state and quality of life of patients the more pronounced dynamics of indicators was observed in patients receiving combination therapy (p<0.05).
