The article describes our own case study of lamellar ichthyosis in a 14 months-old child, who was born from the eighth pregnancy. Notably, three out of eight pregnancies of the child’s mother ended in stillbirth (two male and one female fetuses), one — abortion on the 2nd month of pregnancy, and two — medical abortion. The mother has two living children, a 14-years-old girl (healthy) and the boy being examined. The patient was also diagnosed with the gastrointestinal tract pathology, allergic status, high rates of C-reactive protein and total IgE, visceral pathology, which determined the severity of patient’s condition. The literature reports mainly skin lesions and sometimes mental retardation in patients with this disease, as well as the fact that the disease occurs in individuals born in closely related marriages. Given that patient’s parents are not relatives to each other, it can be assumed that there was in utero mutation. Given that there were three cases of stillbirth in this family, mutagenic factors causing gene defect should be studied. It should also be noted that none of the relatives in the family had similar skin disease or stillbirths.
