This review deals with the modern concepts of age-related changes in protective functions of the skin with an emphasis on the impairment of the interaction between the immune cells of innate and acquired immunity, which leads to decrease in antigen-specific T-cell immune surveillance in the skin. We discuss various defects of T-cells and their environment and address the issue of possible correction of activity of T-reg and other cells in the skin, which would improve the immunological surveillance in elderly people and reduce the risk of developing malignant tumors or skin infections.
