Abstract:

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of the treatment of fungal infections of the skin and nail plates with naftifine in patients in risk groups. Material and methods. Prospective clinical study (2011-2013). Results. 78 records of patients with onychomycosis (51 men and 27 women aged 21-78 years) were selected. Cutaneous fungal lesions of the torso, feet, and large folds were diagnosed in 35 (44.9% ) of them. Twenty-nine (82.8 %) of 35 patients recovered from fungal infections of the due to applying 1% Exoderil lotion. Topical application of 1% Exoderil solution and following the sanitary measures allowed 45 (57.7%) patients to recover from onychomycosis; the nail plate improved in 29 (37.2 %) patients; no effect was observed in 4 (5.1%) of 78 patients. Adverse effects on the skin due to the use of 1% Exoderil lotion were either mild or moderate (burning, dryness, erythema, itching and local irritation) and were extremely rare. Conclusions. Naftifine demonstrated high activity against many clinically important fungal pathogens with good tolerability.
