Abstract:

The author gives the data of her investigation to study the indicators of phagocytosis and cell growth factors in patients with acne vulgaris before and after phototherapy. The imbalance between immunity parameters, which suggests the development of concomitant secondary immunologic failure, has been found in patients with acne vulgaris. A phototherapy course has contributed to the normalization of phagocytotic parameters and to the significant correction of IL-1α and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) values. Clinical remission and considerable improvement after the therapy were achieved in 96.6% of cases, confirming that this therapy had significant immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and VEGF-regulatory effects.
