Some unknown pages of history of artificial blood circulation with biological oxygenation in national cardiac surgery are studied and recreated in the article. For the period 1967—1969 under the leadership of Ya.P. Kulik (1928—2007), head of the general surgery department of Blagoveshchensk Medical Institute, fundamental researches in so-called “biologization” of artificial circulation were conducted, methods of animals’ donor lung usage as an oxygenator in extracorporeal circulation system were developed in the experiment and introduced into practice for cardiac surgery. In total, there were over 300 experiments by using of this technique and 4 procedures within the clinic. However, biological methods of oxygenation were therefore stopped, since the methods of artificial circulation with mechanical oxygenation began to be performed.
