Abstract:

The objective of this work was to improve the results of diagnostics and surgical treatment of venous forms of congenital vascular malformations in the lower extremities based on the differential pathogenetically sound approach with the application of the surgical, laser-assisted, and echo-sclerotizing techniques. A total of 98 patients, mostly women (67.35%), were examined. Over half of the patients were at the age between 15 and 25 years. The methods used included colour duplex scanning of the lower limb vessels, ultrasound examination of the surrounding soft tissues, X-ray contrast phlebography, detection of proliferation markers (signs of dysmorphism at the morphological level), and measurement of expression of receptors.
