Abstract:

Primary adenocarcinoma of the appendix is a rare neoplasm. In the structure of tumors of the digestive tract, it is less than 0.5%. A large number are found incidentally during emergency surgery for acute appendicitis. Tumor detection by colonoscopy or computed tomography is a rare event. In this case report, we present a case of adenocarcinoma of the appendix in a 73-year-old woman. He was diagnosed after preoperative examination. The patient had atypical signs such as lower abdominal pain for five days. Colonoscopy and CT findings confirmed the tumor at the appendix and determined of surgical treatment. This case emphasizes the importance of maintaining a high index of suspicion for appendiceal neoplasm in older adults.
