Abstract:

Article considers the study of physical features of the abdominal raphe and their role in the etiology of postoperative ventral hernias.The aim of the study: to expand of the herniology theory in terms of an analysis the results of our own research and literature sources. Materials and methods. A summary analysis of available literature sources over the past 13 years were conducted, patients underwent by surgical treatment through median laparotomy to determine the frequency and location of postoperative ventral hernias were examined, and further, an experiment was conducted to determine the strength of the abdominal raphe. Results. The most frequent localization of postoperative ventral hernias is the epi-mesogastric region. The most «soft» from the viewpoint of the strength of the abdominal raphe is the middle region of its epigastric part and the area above the omphalus. We concluded regarding the frequency of postoperative ventral hernia development, the presence of «soft» segments of the abdominal raphe, which should be taken into account when sealing the aponeurosis.
