Abstract:

The results of videoendoscopic diagnostic techniques of 78 HIV patients with chest organs diseases were analyzed. The following videosurgical and videoassisting surgeries were performed: videothoracoscopy, biopsy of pleura/lung/lymph — 55 (70.5%); videomediastinoscopy, biopsy of mediastinal lymph nodes — 17 (21.7%); resection of lung (segmental resection or lobectomy) — 5 (6.5%), pneumonectomy — 1 (1.3%). The results of morphological investigation showed, that 56 (71.8%) of 78 operated patients had tuberculosis. 22 (28.2%) patients had nontuberculous aetiology of intratoracic pathology; nonspecific pleuritis was founded more frequently in 11 (14.1%) cases, lymphomas in 5 (6.4%) and lungs benign tumor in 3 (3.8%) patients. The usage of videoendosurgical techniques in diagnosing chest organs diseases is safe, efficient and don not cause significant quantity of complications and lethality among HIV patients regardless of initial immune status.
