Abstract:

First transvaginal cholecystectomy in Russia - NOTES cholecystectomy with the use of flexible endoscope was performed in the Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences on April 16, 2008. Within several years first urgent surgeries on pelvic organs and retroperitoneal space are performed. Pioneer experience demonstrated safety of transluminal surgical techniques. The aim of the study was to analyze results of the first 45 transluminal (NOTES) minilaparoscopically assisted cholecystectomies. All surgeries were accomplished successfully without conversions to conventional laparoscopic or open cholecystectomy. Average time of surgery was 43.5 min (30-72 min). In 2 cases insertion of additional 5-mm instrument in the epigastrium was required. No intra- and postoperative complications were noted. Transluminal (NOTES) minilaparoscopically assisted cholecystectomy is a safe and feasible in the hands of an experienced surgeon.
