Abstract:

The reports devoted to art therapy in complex treatment of chronic pain syndrome are reviewed. Neurophysiologic and psychological aspects of chronic pain management in terms of various art therapy approaches are considered. The main methodological and organizational concepts necessary for implementation of this therapy are analyzed. We report clinical trials confirming effectiveness of art therapy in the complex management of chronic pain syndrome. Conclusion about art therapy effects for pain syndrome and associated comorbidities is made. Limitations for the use of this approach are also considered.
