Characteristics of active oxygen species, the antioxidative system and their biological role are considered. The known data concerning the influence of physical factors on the processes proceeding with the participation of free oxygen radicals are summarized. The most promising directions of further research on the action of physiotherapeutic factors mediated through free radicals are discussed.
