Abstract:

OBJECTIVE

To develop an algorithm for surgical treatment and postoperative management of patients with prolonged chronic cicatricial stenosis of the larynx and trachea and evaluate its effectiveness.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

To achieve the goal we examined and treated 88 patients with chronic cicatricial stenosis of the larynx and trachea.

RESULTS

The algorithm of complex treatment of patients with chronic cicatricial stenosis of the larynx and trachea has been improved based on a differentiated approach to surgical treatment using various implantation materials, and new methods of postoperative management of patients have been developed: a silicone stent for postoperative prosthetics of the formed laryngeal lumen and a dressing based on sodium alginate.

CONCLUSION

With the help of a new algorithm of complex treatment of patients with chronic cicatricial stenosis of the larynx and trachea, surgical tactics and conservative management of patients in the postoperative period were optimised, which allowed to rehabilitate more patients, reduce the number of reoperations, shorten hospitalisation periods and economic costs.
