Abstract:

OBJECTIVE

To compare the outcomes of monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA) twins with dichorionic diamniotic (DCDA) twins.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

563 twin pregnant women were examined: 160 (28.4%) — with MCDA twins (group I); 403 (71.6%) — with DCDA (group II).

RESULTS

The incidence of pregnancy complications was higher in group I than in group II. Perinatal death also was higher in group I than in group II: 6.6% vs. 2.4% (p=0.01).

CONCLUSION

It is necessary to monitor the condition of pregnant with MCDA twins preventing the gestational complications.
