OBJECTIVE
To improve the diagnosis of uterine appendage tumors using the structural and biochemical markers of endometrial flushes and menstrual discharge
MATERIAL AND METHODS
The paper analyzes and presents the clinical and laboratory data on 355 patients; 95 (27.6%) were women of the control group who did not have diseases of the reproductive organs; 196 (55.2%) were patients with tumors of the uterine appendages of various histological structures; and 64 (18.0%) were patients with inflammatory processes of the uterine appendages. In addition to the traditional clinical, biochemical, pathohistological and cytological methods for the study of endometrial flushes and menstrual secretions the innovative technology — «Litos-system» was used.
RESULTS
The microscopic picture of facies of endometrial secretions and menstrual secretions has specific structural features in patients with inflammatory processes of the uterine appendages, benign and malignant ovarian tumors. The introduction of the structural analysis method of these biological fluids using the «Litos-system» technology together with the biochemical determination of inflammation markers and oxidative stress — carbonyl groups of proteins in patients from the «risk groups» for the development of ovarian tumors makes it possible to increase the effectiveness of their diagnosis.
CONCLUSION
Atraumatic and non-invasive sampling of the test material, the possibility of repeating the presented diagnostic methods in outpatient settings, and analysis by laboratories of medical institutions are important advantages of the presented diagnostic approach. The results obtained indicate the possibility of early detection of ovarian tumors when it becomes possible to perform organ-preserving operations and, thereby, preserve women’s reproductive health.
