Objective. To optimize methods for the diagnosis and treatment of anogenital papillomavirus infection (PVI) in children and adolescents. Subjects and methods. One hundred and thirty-five children and adolescents aged 3 months to 17 years with clinical manifestations of PVI (anogenital condylomas) (a study group) underwent clinical and laboratory examinations. A control group consisted of 30 children without PVI. According to the treatment option, all the study group patients were divided into 3 subgroups: 1) 30 patients who were treated with laser destruction; 2) 30 patients who had condyloma laser destruction that was further added by a low-intensive laser therapy cycle in the postoperative period; 3) 75 patients who received 3-step combined therapy involving interferon suppositories by an alternative regimen and topical glycirrinic acid preparation (Step 1); condyloma laser destruction and postoperative low-intensive therapy (Step 2); a prophylactic interferon therapy cycle 3 weeks after laser destruction (Step 3). In the postoperative period, wound healing changes were comparatively estimated in the patients of the 3 subgroups. The long-term results of treatment were assessed. Results. Three-step combination therapy provided the highest efficiency in treating the children and adolescents with clinical manifestations of anogenital PVI. Conclusion. The authors consider it expedient to use the proposed combined treatment in children and adolescents with PVI in clinical practice.
