Abstract:

The prospective study enrolled 87 reproductive-aged women with submucosal uterine myoma who had undergone myomectomy and fractional curettage of the walls of the uterine cavity and cervical canal. Submucosal uterine myoma concurrent with endometrial hyperplastic processes was detected in 62.1% of the patients examined. Immunohistochemical studies of the tissues of removed myomas and hyperplastic endometrium showed that the expression of estrogen and progesterone receptor, the index of proliferative activity index, and the area of the vascular bed were different in the tissues of submucosal myomatous nodules, normal endo- and myometrium, and hyperplastic endometrium. The established different tissue changes in the hyperplastic endometrium and myomatous nodules may be anticipated to be one of the reasons for ineffective hormonal treatment in patients with comorbidity and a rationale for their surgical treatment.
