A comprehensive study (small pelvic ultrasonography, color Doppler mapping, endometrial vacuum curettage, and endometrial histological study) was conducted in 48 postmenopausal patients with climacteric disorders and small uterine leiomyoma before and during low-dose hormone therapy. A control group comprised 30 women with the same diagnosis who had nonhormonal correction of climacteric syndrome. The volume of the uterus and myomatous nodules and uterine and inratumor blood flow were found to be steady-state in postmenopausal women with uterine myoma of small sizes during therapy with drugs containing the low doses of hormones. No statistically significant differences were found between the endometrial M-echo and histological patterns and the baseline values in 83% of the women. Low-dose hormonal therapy is the highly effective method for the treatment of climacteric disorders, which exerts no proliferative effect on the endometrium and myometrium in patients with postmenopausal small uterine myoma.
