Abstract:

Lactation function and the amino acid composition of breast milk were studied in 50 puerperas with euthyroid goiter, in 29 with thyrotoxicosis, and in 31 with hypothyroidism. A control group consisted of 25 healthy puerperas. The most cases of varying hypogalactia were observed in patients with thyrotoxicosis (48.22%) and in those with hypothyroidism (54.82%). Puerperas with the same pathology were found to have decreased breast milk levels of number of essential amino acids.
