Abstract:

The nasal mucosa was morphologically assessed in 30 patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps. Neutrophilic inflammation of the nasal mucosa was found to dominate over eosinophilic one in 26.7% of the examinees, suggesting that it is appropriate to perform antibiotic therapy in this group of patients. However, histological examination made in accordance with the proposed protocol is subjective and there is a need for further bacteriological and immunological studies.
