Abstract:

Plasty of nasal septal perforations presents considerable technical difficulties; in this connection, this problem is always in rhinosurgeons’ field of vision. Objective: to improve surgical recovery of the nasal septal integrity. Patients and methods. 53 patients who were divided into two groups were followed up. Group 1 included patients with nasal septal perforation and deformity of the external nose and intranasal structures; Group 2 consisted of patients with nasal septal perforation and a pathological process in the paranasal sinuses. Results. According to the extent of septal defect, the investigators sutured the margins, transposed nasal mucosal flaps, and transferred a gingivobuccal flap. The use of splints contributes to the better efficiency of nasal septal perforation plasty. Closure of perforation of the nasal septum or a reduction in its sizes after surgical intervention causes a significant reduction in the frequency and degree of symptoms of the disease.
