The hot, dry climate is typical for vast areas of our planet, including areas of local military conflicts. During military and professional activities in these conditions, the critical problem is the prevention of dehydration of servicemen. Since there is no possibility of conducting research in wartime, it is relevant to extend the recommendations developed in peacetime concerning activities that simulate a combat situation to the practice of military labor.
OBJECTIVE
To study the possibility of extending recommendations for dehydration prevention from sports medicine to the practice of military labor in hot and dry climates.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
We analyzed the Methodological recommendations for the prevention of dehydration developed by the Federal Research Center for Nutrition, Biotechnology and Food Safety of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia for three types of sports activities: combat sports, cyclic sports, and team sports selected from all classes of sports activities based on a survey of 23 experts. Methods of analysis, synthesis, analogy, and mathematical logic were used.
RESULTS
During the analysis of the Methodological recommendations for the prevention of dehydration developed for combat sports, cyclic, and team sports, the conjunction method was used to identify recommendations in the general array that apply not to a specific class of sports activities but to any of them. Based on the studied data and specific features of military labor, nine recommendations on preventing dehydration and methods of rehydration of servicemen applicable in the field were derived.
CONCLUSION
The guidelines developed for sports activities in hot, dry climates are based on the general features of the human body and, therefore, can serve as a reliable basis for developing recommendations for dehydration prevention and rehydration techniques for servicemen. Due to the specifics of combat and training activities, adjusting and adapting the wording for their use in the field was necessary.
