The background of this study is determined by the wide spread of drug addiction in the Russian Federation, including in the Republic of Tatarstan, and by the necessity to develop effective preventive measures aimed at anti-narcotic propaganda among young people.

OBJECTIVE

To determine the efficacy of preventive measures in the Republic of Tatarstan, aimed at prevention of drug addiction in the period from 2000 to 2006 yrs and at the present time.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The study object is two groups of respondents (200 persons) aged from 18 to 22 years and from 33 to 37 years (in 2000—2006 yrs these persons were between 18 and 22 years old) living in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan. Research methods are questioning of subjects with a specially designed questionnaire and subsequent mathematical and statistical data processing, including Pearson correlation coefficient. The obtained results were compared with data from state statistics (Rosstat).

RESULTS

The efficacy grade of preventive measures, carried out in the higher education institutes of the Republic of Tatarstan in the early 2000s and at the present time, has been demonstrated in the subjects of two study groups. It has been established how widely different types of anti-narcotic measures are used, including distribution of leaflets/posters, anti-narcotic propaganda activities and preventive medical examinations for traces of narcotic substances in biological fluids. Correlation analysis of obtained data revealed an inverse relation between preventive measures’ efficacy and drug consumption. A comparative analysis of obtained data in two study groups showed, that the prevention efficacy (66.5%) in 2021—2022 yrs. was more than (57.5%) in 2000—2006 yrs. Collation of study results and data of state statistics (Rosstat) confirmed the positive impact of anti-narcotic activity and the decrease of drug addiction spreading among young people.

CONCLUSION

Anti-narcotic propaganda among young people can change public opinion and attitude towards drug use and thus decrease the drug addiction spreading.
