Abstract:

In his Canon of Medicine, Ibn Sina (Avicenna) developed the ideas of Hippocrates on a healthy lifestyle and the importance of exercises, food, and sleep for health. He also laid the foundations of pediatrics, gerontology, and travel medicine. From the standpoint of today, the paper analyzes Part 3 of the Canon’s first book “On the Preservation of Health” that gives recommendations for children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. Many of his recommendations are also relevant in our days.
