OBJECTIVE
To optimize training of pharmacists for biotechnological enterprises taking into account their professional socialization.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
We surveyed students, university teachers and specialists in pharmaceutical industry regarding the quality of professional training in pharmacy. This study implied survey of experts (formalized interviews) and students.
RESULTS
Analysis of professional orientation and prospects for professional socialization of graduates of pharmaceutical faculties revealed the need for closer cooperation between educational organizations and enterprises for earlier immersion of students in profession and maintaining the personnel potential for pharmaceutical industry. Research of professional development and socialization of employees in pharmaceutical industry indicates prevailing specialists in related sub-specialties in enterprises who acquire special pharmaceutical knowledge during the work. We found the need of pharmaceutical enterprises for highly professional personnel with higher pharmaceutical education and knowledge in related sub-specialties. Modern level of pharmacy and high share of biotechnological enterprises in pharmaceutical market necessitated modernization of educational programs in close cooperation between specialized educational organizations and industry enterprises. Uniform requirements for graduates of specialized educational institutions, formed by professional community, will contribute to easy adaptation of young specialists to various changes in professional field and application of their knowledge and skills in biotechnological enterprises, research companies and other pharmaceutical organizations.
CONCLUSION
Our results underlie perception of modern higher pharmaceutical education with various aspects of educational process and allow one to argue necessary changes for higher pharmaceutical education. These results are implemented at the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University and some private pharmaceutical companies in the Moscow region.
