Acne is a chronic inflammatory skin disease, has a high prevalence, and presents important health and social issue. Recent studies of C. acne showed the leading role of a balance between its phylotypes and the skin microbiota. The loss of balance combined with the activation of innate immunity can lead to acne exacerbation. The literature review focuses on years of international experience by dermatologists and cosmetologists regarding the pathogenesis and triggers of this disease. In the last decade, some researchers have focused on various clinical manifestations of acne with additional pathogenesis processes. Based on the results of studies by domestic and foreign authors, the current modalities of supportive therapy, which should be initiated upon achieving treatment goals, was reviewed and systematized. The role of dermocosmetics in dermatology generally and acne treatment specifically is increasing. This review describes the role of traditional and new dermocosmetic ingredients for acne control.
