Abstract:

The article is devoted to the urgent problem of modern dermatology - scabies. Scabies (lat. scabo — to scratch) is the most common parasitic skin disease. The authors treat in detail the pathogenesis issues: direct and indirect pathways of infection, realized in the first case with close intimate contact, in the second case through bedding, clothes, and various household items. Particular attention is paid to determining the prodromal period of the disease, diagnosis with a detailed description of significant symptoms, options for a typical and atypical clinical picture and the course of the disease in immunocompetent patients and patients with HIV/AIDS-infection. Own rare clinical observation of a prolonged course of scabies without treatment and its outcome after therapy is given.
