The global prevalence of eczema is 229 761 000 cases (J. Roderick, et al., 2014) microbial eczema is 12—27% of all these cases. Severe itching and caused sleep deprivation affect the quality of life of these patients. For the past 10 years, there was found a steady trend to have a more severe form of dermatosis, in part because of the irrational use of topical drugs and systemic antibiotics. Nevertheless, infectious-allergic mechanism of microbial eczema forces us to use immunosuppressive and antimicrobial therapy. The use of phototherapy allows to achieve a significant improvement in the skin status and normalization of immunogram without the use of antibacterial drugs. Objectives — to prove the efficacy of medium-wave narrow-band (311 nm) ultraviolet radiation in the treatment of patients with microbial eczema. Material and methods: There were 60 patients with microbial eczema (34 females and 26 males from 32 to 79 years old) examined and treated. A comparative open-label randomized trial was conducted of the effectiveness of narrow-band phototherapy (311 nm) (n=30) and traditional therapy with broad-spectrum antibiotics (n=30). The research findings were processed with Statistica 10.0 («StatSoft») and Microsoft Excel 2016. Results. Efficiency of application of medium-wave narrow-band (311 nm) ultraviolet radiation was proved — normalization of immunogram parameters and itching relief in both study groups was noted. Conclusion. The effectiveness of narrow-band medium-wave phototherapy with a wavelength of 311 nm is comparable with the effectiveness of classical therapy with antibacterial drugs.
