Rosacea fulminans is a rare clinical type of rosacea characterized by sudden clinical manifestation solely on the face. The disease usually attacks young women. The cause of this disease is not yet clear. However, predisposing factors include psychological stress, pregnancy, gastrointestinal and thyroid diseases, and medication intake. General therapy of severe rosacea fulminans involves administering antibiotics, angiostabilizing agents, and isotretinoin. In this article, the authors present their own clinical observation of a 18-year-old patient with rosacea fulminans. Inclusion of isotretinoin (Aknekutan) in the complex therapy resulted in almost complete clinical resolution of the pathological process. The presented case demonstrates a perfect example of a rare severe form of rosacea with benign outcome due to timely adequate therapy. The results of the treatment show high efficacy of Aknekutan in treatment of rosacea fulminans and minimal side effects, ensuring high safety of its long-term use.
