Abstract:

The key dates of the life and work of the outstanding Soviet experimenter, physiologist, innovator and inventor Sergey Sergeevich Bryukhonenko (1890—1960) are presented. Activity of the scientist in different years of his life and in various institutions of the country is analyzed. Little-known facts from scientific work of S.S. Bryukhonenko are presented. It is noted that the «Autojector» device (1924), created by S.S. Bryukhonenko and improved together with S.I. Chechulin, was a prototype for all subsequent domestic and foreign heart-lung machines designed for open-heart surgery.
