Abstract:

Aim — to present an experience of decellularized xenopericardial patch deployment in surgery of brachiocephalic arteries. Material and methods. Carotid endarterectomy followed by repair with decellularized xenopericardial patch MatrixPatch (Auto Tissue, «Berlin Gmbh.») was performed in 5 patients with symptomatic unilateral internal carotid artery (ICA) stenosis 75—90%. Transcranial Doppler sonography was used to assess collateral blood flow reserve in contralateral ICA and vertebrobasilar system. Results. In-hospital mortality and stroke were absent. Three patients were weaned from ventilator and extubated within operating theatre, two patients were extubated within 2 hours after surgery at the intensive care unit. Time of surgery was 48—65 min (mean 56.5 min), cerebral ischemia duration — 23—28 min.
