Efficiency of Local Therapy in Patients with Venous Symptoms

OBJECTIVE

To evaluate the efficacy and of local therapy for symptoms of chronic venous diseases (CVD).

MATERIAL AND METHODS

An open observational study included patients with CVD C1S-C2S. All patients used local agents as monotherapy for 14 days. The main evaluation criteria were VAS scores of symptoms and ease of use of local agents.

RESULTS

There were 45 patients aged 28—68 years. They were divided into 3 equal groups: group 1 — topical drug based on heparin, escin and essential phospholipids; group 2 — heparin-containing gel; group 3 — gel based on troxerutin, heparin and dexpanthenol. In all groups, we observed positive changes of all symptoms and manifestations of CVD, such as pain syndrome, fatigue in legs, swelling and cramps. In the 1^st group, almost all symptoms decreased by 51%. However, there were no significant differences. Effectiveness and ease of use were the highest in the same group.

CONCLUSION

Local therapy in patients with subjective symptoms of CVD can reduce the incidence and severity of clinical manifestations. A gel based on heparin, escin and essential phospholipids may be the most preferable among topical drugs regarding the effectiveness and ease of use.
