The objective of the present study was to evaluate the results of endovenous laser ablation of the saphenous veins using a 1470 nm laser and two ring radial fibers. Material and methods. This non-comparative prospective study included 463 patients who had been given the surgical treatment from July 2014 to July 2015. A total of 575 ablations were performed based at an outpatient setting. 388 (67,5%) patients underwent laser ablation on great saphenous veins, 75 (13%) ones on accessory veins, and 112 (19,5%) cases on short saphenous veins. All the patients underwent the laser treatment at a 1470 nm wavelength and a power of 8—10 watts under tumescent anesthesia, with automatic traction of the fiber. The linear energy density varied from 60 to 80 J/cm. Diameter of the veins below the saphenofemoral junction ranged from 4 to 38 (mean 14±3,1) mm. The observation period varied from 54 to 370 days (quartile 1—105 days; median — 131 days; quartile 3—213 days). Results. The primary endpoint was selected obliteration of the affected veins. The secondary endpoint was re-intervention on the target veins. The effectiveness of ablation of saphenous veins was 96.9%, that of correction by sclerotherapy and by second thermoobliteration 2.6% and 0.5% respectively. Conclusion. The study has demonstrated the high effectiveness and safety of the proposed method.
