Progressive development of herniology and appearance of new methods of surgical interventions for hernia of the anterior abdominal wall and hiatal hernias identifies the need for a tool that allows making the long-term follow up and evaluation of the surgical treatment results of this disease. The Russian National Hernia Registry was developed and integrated in practical use in 2014; then it was modernized and named «Hernia of Abdominal Wall Russian Quality Registry (AWRORA)». The program has the interface adapted for the needs of relevant medical industry, graphic support, and specific criteria for patient inclusion allowing for full and reliable data audit. The AWRORA is aimed to opportunity of centralized information collection on herniology with the possibility of participation in the activities of international herniological organizations, integration into the world community and increasing the medical care quality in this surgical area.
