Material and methods. The results of endoscopic ligation varicose veins of the esophagus, carried out for the purpose of secondary prevention of bleeding in 75 patients who were operated with 2015 to 2017 were studied. The main (study) group included 39 patients, those endoscopic ligation was performed by modified procedure. The control group consisted 36 patients, those endoscopic ligation was performed according to standard method. Results. The overall incidence of early postoperative complications was 12.9% in the study group and 75.0% in the control group (p<0.01). The incidence of dysphagia was 17.9% compared to 86.1%, respectively (p<0.01). The proportion of patients whom in 6 months after the operation were diagnosed varicose veins of the stomach, was 30.8% in compared with 80.5% in the control group (p<0.01). Requirement re-ligation of varicose veins of the esophagus was found in 5.1% versus 11.1%, respectively (p>0.05). Conclusion. Application of a modified endoscopic ligation method varicose veins of the esophagus allows statistically significantly reduce the incidence of complications in the early and distant postoperative period at the current clinical efficacy on level of standard surgical intervention.
