Abstract:

Introduction. One of the pressing problems in gynecology, which dramatically reduces the quality of life in women in menopause, is the syndrome of vulvovaginal atrophy due to a deficit of estrogen, which occurs in 40—57% of women in postmenopause. Aim. Evaluate the effectiveness of a non-hormonal preparation containing polyglucuronic acid in treating patients with atrophic vulvovaginitis in postmenopause. Material and methods. The examination included 34 patients diagnosed with atrophic vulvovaginitis in postmenopause. To verify the diagnosis, in addition to the results of clinical examination (general and gynecological), patients were carried out laboratory tests (microscopic and molecular-biological examination by polymerase chain reaction in real time, determination of vaginal pH). Results. Local therapy with the preparation containing polyglucuronic acid in patients with atrophic vulvovaginitis in postmenopause allowed restoring vaginal biotope and eliminating symptoms of this nosological form with statistically significant efficiency. Conclusion. It has been established that the first line of therapy for patients with atrophic vaginitis in the postmenopause is preparations promoting long-term vaginal moisturizing. First of all, they include vaginal forms containing polyglucuronic acid.
