Objective — to develop a model for the formation of professional competences in the training programs of health workers for screening, vaccination and treatment of cervical diseases, followed by the monitoring of effectiveness. Material and methods. The model developed at the Ural Research Institute of Maternal and Infant Care (RIMIC) to form professional competences consisted of 2 stages. At Stage 1, health workers were trained in the rules and techniques of material collection, storage, routing, and transportation with the theoretical justification and training of practical skills. Stage 2 used distance learning, the possibility of self-directed learning through electronic media, training of diagnostic and therapeutic technologies on the existing equipment in the classrooms of the RIMIC and the OOO «Fotek» to further hone skills, by applying a specialized tool of cervical pathology. Both stages were accompanied by the honing of practical skills of effective communications. The acquired knowledge was controlled by testing and demonstrating practical skills. Results. The training program introduced in the Sverdlovsk Region to organize cervical cancer screening as a model for the formation of professional competences in health workers could reduce the number of errors in study material collection by 5 times and in the diagnosis and treatment of varying degrees of cervical neoplasias by 2.3 times and increase the competence in cervical cancer vaccination by 12.5 times.
