Abstract:

The paper gives data on blood macro- and microrheological parameters in 28 pregnant women with chronic placental insufficiency (PI) after in vitro fertilization (IVF) and embryo transfer (ET), who received plasmapheresis (PA) using hydroxyethyl starch (HES). The blood rheological parameters were estimated from macrorheology indicators (asymptomatic blood viscosity, plasma viscosity, packed cell volume, and the plasma concentration of total fibrinogen) and microrheology (spontaneous red blood cell aggregation and disaggregation). An analysis indicated that the pregnant women with PI after IVF and ET had changes in blood macro- and microrheological parameters, in particular, impaired aggregation and disaggregation processes, erythrocyte deformability, enhanced formation of linear aggregates of erythrocytes, and their index rigidity. Unlike traditional therapy, the use of PA in combination with HES largely improved blood rheological parameters: the aggregatory properties of red blood cells and their rigidity index decreased and their capacity for deformability increased.
