Abstract:

Based on the recently published data, the author considers the etiology and pathogenesis of chronic vulvar dystrophic diseases: lichen sclerosus and squamous-cell hyperplasia. Vulvar dystrophy is stressed to be one of the least studied female genital diseases. The role of a leading infectious factor has not been defined. The concept of the endocrine genesis of the disease remained in the past. Much evidence available in the literature suggests that the disease has an immune-mediated mechanism.
