Preparation of a stomatologist for the work with the special needs patients, such as drug-dependent subjects, starts at the very onset of the educational process. Some countries have an experience with state-oriented clinical education programs that help dental students to better understand their future responsibilities. A practicing dentist have to deal with the patients of different age groups, social and cultural background having medical, stomatological, and private problems that are not stipulated in routine education curricula. After the completion of their professional education, the students study how to build relationships with the drug-addicted patients for the purpose of encouraging their active participation in the treatment process.
